# [[š¤ What Is Success]]

Had this interesting thought: Most religions/spirituality/ideology/whatever you want to call it motivate people to do good things .. it is always about what you have DONE .. how many good deeds you have performed. How many people have you helped.
On the other hand, when you look at most of our cultures, success is looked at materialistically, it is not "what have you done", it is "how much have you made" .. which interestingly, I've never seen any ideology call for, except for capitalism.
We are always most proud (and praised) when we have the most paying job .. because that is what we have been conditioned to think of success as : Money.
Sure, it is awesome if we can mix both. But if I were to choose one over the other, I would choose making less money and doing things are actually beneficial to the people around me. Example: I would rather be a Teacher who makes 2000$ a month than a Bank manager who makes $4000.
UNLESS .. you are doing something that brings you more money at the time being which will help you later do something good .. Example: That bank manager might be doing this so he can save money and after 20 hears he would build a school.
Living life focusing solely on money and financial stability is really counter productive, I think ..
I once asked the billionaire Naveen Jain: What is success? He said "Unlike what most people think, to me success is not about how much money you make, but about how many people you influence positively."
