You won't need any humans, to run anything, from entering the departure airport to exiting the arrival airport. Most of the industry's aspects (from checking in, to flying, to landing, is already handled by machines, robots, and computers. Human workers, including pilots, are merely supervisors. (Flight attendants is the hardest and most underrated job in the airline industry. But even that could be automated.) However, the air transportation industry is one of the "dinosaur industries" .. so much potential, but EXTREMELY slow innovation and high business risk aversion.
