They will get VERY close to realism, so close that the only next step forward is reality itself. I do not think it's far fetched to see video games where the characters/objects on screen are real people/objects being somehow controlled remotely by players. Video games will likely evolve into a medium that gamifies reality. (And I'm not talking about augmented reality). Imagine controlling a real car on a real track, screened to your living room.
