# [[Hypocrisy of Hyperinflation]] #Economy #Society #Lebanon_Crisis #Collapse #Paradox #Hyperinflation Let's not hide our heads in the sand ... A considerable number of Lebanese are actually benefiting from the hyperinflation, and living a lifestyle they wouldn't have been able to afford a few months ago. Yes, bars and night clubs will be full, even more than before. Yes, beaches and swimming pools will be full. expensive restaurants will still be full, even with the prices doubling (because while prices doubled, their salaries multiplied by ~6). And yes, some will be carrying the iPhone 12 when it comes out in a couple months. And by all means, I'd probably do some of that if I could. The annoying part (for me at least) is when these people nag about "the situation" .. and talk as if they are in the middle of the storm with everyone else. I believe that these people need to have some empathy with those who are on the other side of the coin, those who are truly in the middle of the storm.
