### [[Thoughts/Musings/We Are Someone's Past]] #Humanity #Generations #History #Future #Death #Anthropology I came across this video .. and my thoughts started wandering ... <iframe width="560" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/hZ1OgQL9_Cw?si=BSVGb21Ohc7bp61O" title="YouTube video player" frameborder="0" allow="accelerometer; autoplay; clipboard-write; encrypted-media; gyroscope; picture-in-picture; web-share" referrerpolicy="strict-origin-when-cross-origin" allowfullscreen></iframe> I can safely assume that virtually no one in this video is alive today, including the little kids. The roads, the buildings, the streets, things that these humans built, are still there. We can also safely assume that, with only a few exceptions, no one who lived on Earth back then is alive now. In other words, a whole new set of humans roams this very same earth and roads and buildings compared to 108 years ago. 120 years from now (counting for health advancements) a whole new set of humans will be on this earth. No one we know or will ever meet. Yet, we still fight over silly stuff. Yes, even the big things are silly stuff in the bigger scheme of things. We fight for things that neither us, not anyone we love or care about will even get to enjoy 120 years from now. We fight in the name of nations and kill in the name of religions, all for nothing. Soon enough, none of us will be on this earth. Just another set of humanity that has to live with the ugly repercussions of the life they inherited from the past set of humanity, Us, which in turn inherited this mess we call "the world" from people we have never met and will never meet. We blame the past. We are someone's past. > [!seealso] Related Thoughts > > Related thoughts will appear here when available. Published: August 24, 2019
