# [[Fame is a Disorder]] #Society #Mental_Wellbeing #Advice #Social_Media #Parenting Fame is a disorder every person should avoid, for as long as possible. Historically, fame was a side effect of success. And fame was limited to extremely few people by today's standards. There was no easy or even a known strategy to become famous. It was more of a "secret club" that you get admitted to after enough popularity. Today, quite literally anyone can be famous within 24 hours under the correct strategy. I'm willing to take a bet that I can make anyone extremely famous in 7 days. 24 hours if they don't have standards šŸ˜› Along with fame comes a set of problems no human can avoid. - Fame comes with an expiry date. No one stays famous AND relevant for ever. - Most public figures peak once in their life, whenever you drop of that peak, you almost certainly never reach back there, unless it's for a scandal. - It comes with social obligations. - It comes with moral obligations. - It comes with ethical obligations. - It makes a person feel watched 24/7. - It makes normal social relationships virtually impossible. - It comes with anxiety and depression. - You become a target for all kinds of bad things. - It distorts ALL your values and goals and priorities for life. - Fame comes with the risk of literally ruining your WHOLE life for one little wrong word or picture or mistake. And what most people don't realize is that it is NOT a two way street. After fame, there is nothing such as stopping this gig and going back to normal life. You can try, but "normal" becomes a thing of the past. Fame is fun, until it isn't. Ask any famous person today, if they could achieve the same financial success without being famous... they would. You might think that fame is enjoyable in itself. I'll say yes, for most people it's enjoyable for 2-3 months, after which it becomes more of a burden, and it weight increases with time. Also, if you are a parent of a kid who wants to be famous ... Not to scare, but almost EVERY child celebrity lived a ruined life as an adult. I'm not saying most, or many. Almost ALL! You will keep thinking "it's not the same" .. until you realize that it has always been the same. Popular kids at school live a psudo-fame experience. So they can be looked at for hints. > [!seealso] Related Thoughts > >- [[Fame Alone Is Not A Career]] >- [[Family Influencers With Kids Should Be Criminalized]] >- [[Kids and Quantified Self-Worth]] >- [[Avoid Using Your Children For Social Media Content]] >- [[Fame Is Like Fire šŸ”„]] >- [[šŸ“‰ Influ-businesses Are Short-lived]] >- [[Child Social Media Abuse]] Published: June 02, 2024
